Directed by Patricia Boyette
Cough! Wheeze! Gasp! Argan, a miserly hypochondriac, wants his daughter, Angelique, to marry a doctor¿for the free medical care. This new translation of Moliere¿s farcical comedy pokes fun at the medical profession, family corruption, and absurdities in familial duty. Produced in the Steampunk aesthetic, a fantastical spin Victorian decadence and turn-of-the-century industrialization, this costume drama will delight through its combination of satiric commentary, physical farce, and stunning visuals.
The Titanic Players Improv Comedy troupe takes you a step away from reality and opens up a whole new world of unknown! Rather than just doing short, quick games of improv, this troupe specializes in long form improvisation. It allows for comedy to just flow easily through longer scenes of unplanned actions and dialogue. Come join in the fun the first Sunday of every month in the Fredric March Play Circle!
Free; tickets available at the Wisconsin Union Box Office to students/faculty/staff on October 22, 2009 and available to general public October 28, 2009.
One of the world's leading cognitive scientists, Steven Pinker asks audacious questions about the human mind... then boldly sets out to answer them. Recently named one of TIME magazine's 100 Most Influential People in The World, he is enormously popular in the media and highly respected in scientific circles. Known for his verve, his wit, and his profound ideas -- many of them explained by referencing pop culture -- Pinker is a brilliant speaker who helps non-specialists understand the science behind human thought and action. His latest book, The Stuff of Thought, shows how our words reflect the thoughts we think, the emotions we feel, and the relationship we hold.
