The radiant Nrityagram Dance Ensemble blends the classical dance forms of India with contemporary concepts, transporting viewers to enchanted worlds of magic and spirituality with the sensuous flow of Odissi, the oldest of India 's classical dance forms. Having toured internationally, the ensemble’s Sacred Space was awarded the best production of the season by the prestigious Music Academy of Chennai, India.
"It's cutting edge. It's a winner," exclaims The Washington Post. "Their performance, like that of the accompanying musicians, was eloquent, immaculate, and extraordinarily vivid." (Ann Arbor News)
"Growing up as a dancer I have always been motivated with the philosophy and dance personality of Protima Gauri Bedi or Gaurima as she is popularly known. Nrityagram, her dream is a beautiful medium for dancers to learn and grow. It will be very exciting to watch the Nrityagram performers here in Madison and I look forward to bringing my dance school students to share the experience of the upcoming performance with them!" - Meenakshi Ganesan, Founder and Artistic Director - Kalaanjali school of Dance.
